Many students enrolled in private secondary schools qualify for financial aid offered directly by their school. The School and Student Service for Financial Aid accepts financial applications for many schools. Students may qualify for additional resources through priviate scholarship funds, contest awards, and competions.

PrepReview - commercial subscription site which compares statistics (including many not widely publicized) about schools and placement success at Ivy Leauge colleges, MIT, & Stanford.
Vincent Curtis Educational Register - approximately 1200 schools and programs throughout the U.S. and Europe are profiled; free matching service; resource articles on private school options.
Scholar Search Associates Guide to Independent Schools - "independent schools and programs for the motivated student"; essays and interviews of students, parents, and faculty at about a dozen schools.
