Alphabetical Title List of Journals

Journals and Newspapers at Other Libraries

Other library resources on this site

Periodicals are published at regular intervals and feature new developments in a field, usually with more focused topics. These included newspapers, popular magazines, trade/professional magazines, and scholarly research journals. Many periodicals include annual indexes. Since the late 1800's many magazines and journals have been indexed in special finding aids such as Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature. With the advent of searchable online periodical databases, more and more articles can be located using the databases own tools, which allow the reader to search keywords, subject, title, author, and many other parameters.

Electronic Journals [online]

Tens of thousands of online editions of periodicals with full-text articles are subscribed though the Connecticut Digital Library iConn . To locate journals or articles by subject, use the basic or advanced search screens. The alphabetical title list below highlights some titles of immediate interest to students and faculty of Talcott Mountain Academy and provides direct links to the TMA portal for the relevant databases with the most extensive coverage of the journal (other database holdings are also noted). Those titles intended primarily for students are marked [P], [E], [I], or [U] as particularly appropriate for Primary (Suites A & B), Elementary (Suites I & II), Intermediate (Suites III & IV) and Upper (Suite V) students.

To other journals included in a database, use the E-Journal Finder tool; this tool also allows users to browse journals grouped by subject. PLEASE NOTE: When you use a public search engine (such as Google) to link to a journal instead of using the (FREE) Connecticut Digital Library iConn subscription portal, you may be charged fees to view or download full-text articles.

In recent years, some scholarly journals have adopted the "Open Access" model, providing free online access to the general public. The Directory of Open Access Journals allows users to search these journals by subject, title, and article.

When available, internet addresses for home pages of periodicals are given in the list below following the title and ISSN. Some sites offer limited access to current articles and additional online content. Many include online indexes of their archives.

Databases with searchable full-text articles for a journal are listed (with dates of coverage) and linked; to access the complete selection of issues for that journal,

Print Journals at TMA [print]

Back issues of print journals (SUBJECTS: astronomy, computer science, technology, life sciences, humanities, education) are located in the Hypermedia Library, Student Technology Center. Consult print copies when online editions of journals are (1) unavailable; (2) lack pagination; or (3) have inferior graphics and illustrations. Primarily, articles are indexed in the online databases noted below, available through the Connecticut Digital Library iConn . Note the coverage dates in various databases. Journal-specific print indexes are filed following the most recent issue.
