The Talcott Mountain Academy HyperMedia Library and Learning and Research Resource Center (LRRC) support the academic mission of the Academy. The Library supports the academic development of students and the professional development of faculty and staff. The Library is the center of an organized program of instruction in 21st century information literacy and research methods to prepare the students for more advanced schooling and independent learning. The Library serves as a model for role of libraries in the appropriate and differentiated education for gifted, talented, and able students.
The HyperMedia Library includes a computer terminal classroom center and a wireless computer network throughout the campus. The LRRC includes print books, periodicals, reference materials, audio-video, and electronic resources across the academic and developmental levels of the Academy students, including those working above grade level.
Barbara J. Hampton, J.D., M.L.S., is the LRRC librarian. She received her law degree from the University of Connecticut and her library science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Her responsibilities include instructing students in information literacy and research methods; collaborating with faculty to support curriculum needs; and planning, implementing, and evaluating the development of information resources and curriculum.
