Many public libraries offer access to eBooks through special collections such as NetLibrary and eBrary. Ask your librarian for assistance if locating additional choices.

Downloadable Audiobooks

Thanks to a grant from the Department of Public Utilities, a collection of 1300 downloadable audiobooks is now available from the Connecticut State Library. Both classic an recent titles are included, with both adult and children's titles (339 "juvenile fiction"). The narration is professionally produced by nationally recognized professionals. When all available copies of an audiobook are checked out, you can place a hold on that book to indicate that you would like to check it out as soon as it becomes available. MyiLibrary Audio will let you know how many other people are in the hold queue before you. MyiLibrary Audio will send you an email to let you know that your audiobook is available for check-out.

You will need your Connecticut Public Library Card barcode number to download books or place them on hold. From your computer, you can then transfer titles to iPods and certain MP3 players for limited times. More details about how the service works are available from the Help link at the web site above.

Many local public libraries also have additional downloadable audiobooks in their individual collections.
